Emilia Perez led the Oscars nominations with a total of 13, The Brutalist and Wicked scored 10 each, but romantic comedy-drama Anora scored big.
Two musicals competed for the best picture — Wicked and Emilia Pérez', with other movies like Anora, The Brutalist, A Complete Unknown, Conclave, Dune: Part Two, I’m Still Here, Nickel Boys, and The Substance. Anora received the Best Picture award at the 97th Oscars.
Adrien Brody took home the Best Actor award for The Brutalist, while Sean bagged the Best Director Trophy for Anora. Best actress (Mikey Madison) award also went to Anora.
With this Anora won big with five Oscars out of the six categories it was nominated for.
Talking about Brody, he played the fictional Hungarian-Jewish architect László Tóth in Brady Corbet's film. He earlier won an Oscar for the best actor award in 2003, at the age of 29, for Roman Polanski's Holocaust drama The Pianist.
This year, the 51-year-od actor won the BAFTA, the Critics Choice Award, and the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama for The Brutalist.
Madison, who picked up best actress Oscar trophy, called it ''surreal" during her acceptance speech.
She said,fef777.com “I grew up in Los Angeles, but Hollywood always felt so far away from me, so to be here, standing in this room today is really incredible.”
Mikey, who has been raved for her stellar act of a stripper in Anora, also gave a shout out to the sex worker community. “Yes. I will continue to support and be an ally. All of the incredible people, the women that I’ve had the privilege of meeting from that community has been one of the highlights of this incredible experience,'' she added.
The actress also took home the BAFTA and Spirit Awards this year.
